Ms. Lacy is a highly skilled journalist with an exceptional 20-year track record in managing, editing and reporting news. A native of Indianapolis, IN, Ms. Lacy received a BA in Journalism from the College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Much of her newspaper career was spent at the Birmingham Post-Herald, a Scripps-Howard-owned daily in Birmingham, where she began as a features reporter. Her last position with the paper before leaving in 2001 was assistant managing editor, which involved managing daily operation of the local news and features departments. As a reporter and editor, Ms. Lacy won several awards, including best local economic coverage in Alabama, best spot news and best feature awards from the Associated Press and Alabama Press Association.
Ms. Lacy started TJ Lacy Media Consulting in 2002. Among her clients is the Housing Enterprise of Central Alabama, where she handles media and communications and, most recently, coordinated the redesign of the non-profit's website.
She is a member of Leadership Birmingham, and was a member of the Class of 1996-1997. She also was a co-chair for the Leadership Birmingham's "One Community Day," a one-day seminar on diversity challenges in the city. She currently serves on the Avondale Park Architectural Review Board, a local Historic Advisory Committee to the City of Birmingham's Design Review Committee.
